Hawaii state legislation

MIT Alumni for Climate Solutions
Hawaii was the first state to adopt a law aligning with the Paris agreement to combat climate change and pledged to be carbon-neutral by 2045, generating 100 % of electricity from clean, renewable sources. See: http://climate.hawaii.gov/ and links below for more information.

HB2182 made Hawaii carbon neutral by 2045 and established the Greenhouse Gas Sequestration Task Force.

HB1986 created a framework for a carbon offset program that allows for carbon credits through global carbon sequestration protocols.

HB 2101 requires a sea level rise analysis in environmental impact statements before building projects.
